OVERDRIVE
The Long Distance Drive is the first device created by Other Space Electronics.
An overdrive circuit designed from the ground up, the Long Distance Drive is built by hand at the Other Space Electronics workshop in Amsterdam at the back of the much loved OCCII live music venue. Working with the best modern and vintage components, selected for their high quality and durability, the Long Distance Drive provides the stability and wizardry that only the right combination of parts can give. Set into a custom made stainless steel enclosure, the pedal features screen printed original artwork by Caetano Carvalho.
The Long Distance Drive is designed to work with the entire frequency spectrum of the input signal, keeping its dynamics intact whilst adding overdriven harmonics to the sound. In the lower DRIVE settings there is a large amount of headroom with a preamp-like quality, where the subtle and dynamic RANGE control gives you the ease to dial in exactly where you want your break-up and tone to meet. In the higher DRIVE setting the tone will start to sustain, and whilst keeping its clarity, creates a thick and full overdriven sound that will sing on your leads and crush down with the chords. A classic treble-booster circuit at the input stage enables you to brighten up your signal and send it off to the drive stage where two distinct clipping modes focus on adding either odd or even harmonics, thus creating those singing squared waves or more harsh saw-tooth-like ones.
It also works great with bass-heavy signals as it's designed to pass the low frequencies of your bass or synth or any other kind of signal that has a lot of bass content. The SAW-TOOTH CLIPPING MODE has been especially developed to let the bass content of your signal safely find its way to your amp, so make sure you give that setting a try.

Current draw: 4.5mA
Bypass Switch: True-Bypass
Dimensions: 140mm x 100mm x 55mm (5,5" x 4" x 2,2") - including pots and switches
Weigth: 0,485 Kg / 1,07 lbs
POWERING
The Long Distance Drive is designed to operate on a 9 VDC center-negative power supply. It is possible to use a higher voltage supply, like an 18 VDC supply, but the dynamic range and break-up point will shift and the pedal will lose its effectiveness, so we advise against it.
We recommend using a single transformer-isolated power supply, specifically designed to power effects pedals, to prevent any added noise or unpredictable interactions between other pedals. There is no battery connection inside.
ENCLOSURE & ARTWORK
Housed in a custom-made stainless steel enclosure with a vintage feel. Artwork commissioned to Caetano, an artist from Bahia, Brazil, who claims to exist in a form resembling something in between a monkey and a vulture. Caetano is a multidisciplinary trickster flying from drawing to dance to noise gigs to art fairs to the park with his son. To learn more about the artist: eee.ehcaetano.com
